Bobbi Dykema accepted the call to serve First Church of the Brethren in 2018. Prior to beginning ministry in Springfield, she had served a Brethren church in rural Okanogan County, Washington, and been a youth pastor in Seattle. Bobbi studied at United Theological Seminary in Minneapolis and the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. She is passionate about the arts and social justice, and lives in Springfield with her husband Tim and their cats Saskia and Gennara.
First Church of the Brethren is a small, inclusive, welcoming, progressive church that has been working together to love God and serve our neighbors since 1922! We believe that Black Lives Matter, women's rights are human rights, no human is illegal, science is real, love is love, and kindness is everything. First Church has been officially open, affirming, welcoming and supportive of the LGBTQIA community since 2004. In a culture driven by consumerism, we try to live simply. In a world constantly at war, we strive to live peacefully. At a time of deep political, social, and economic division, we worship together. We don't seek to have all the answers, but to explore the questions and learn from one another.
Our church loves providing safe space and good food for folks! We've hosted Compass for Kids, the Coalition of Rainbow Alliances, 12-Step groups, and more. Our annual Pancake Breakfast and Alternative Holiday Fair have been community favorites for decades! Send us a message if you'd like to learn more about space for community groups or any of our events!
